Our Philosophy

Our goal is to keep every student challenged and working at the highest level of math they are capable of. Two levels of math for each grade helps to ensure that each student’s needs are being met. Competitive Math opportunities are available to all of our students to help keep each student engaged and to help keep math fun. In addition, Learning Lab, After-School Homework Help, and weekly Math Lab opportunities are available to provide additional assistance to any student who may need it.

6th Grade

6th Grade Course 1

This course focuses on the fundamentals of math necessary to build a strong foundation and ensure success throughout the student’s academic life. Students in this course will work at an in-depth level on topics ranging from rational numbers to plane and coordinate geometry. Calculators are not used in this class.

6th Grade Course 2 - Advanced

This rigorous math course includes topics involving Ratios, Expressions and Equations, Plane Geometry and Area, Surface Area and Volume of real life objects as well as Statistics. In order to ensure a high level of proficiency, calculators are not used in this class.

7th Grade

7th Grade Course 2

This course picks up where Course 1 leaves off. Topics include Data Analysis and Proportional Reasoning as well as solving 2-step and multi-step equations. Students also study Surface Area and Volume of real- life 3-Dimensional Figures as well as Statistics and Probability.

7th Grade Course 3 Advanced (Pre-Algebra)

After successfully completing Course 2-Adv. students move on to this rigorous pre-algebra course that includes an in-depth exploration of proportional reasoning and applications of percents as well as working with formulas and linear equations and systems of equations and linear inequalities.

8th Grade

8th Grade Course 3 (Pre-Algebra)

After completing Course 2 students move on to this rigorous pre-algebra course that includes an in-depth exploration of proportional reasoning and applications of percents as well as working with formulas and linear equations as well as systems of equations and linear inequalities.

8th Grade Algebra 1 Honors

This course allows 8th Grade students to earn high school credit while enrolled at St. Pats. This honors level class provides an in-depth study of linear, quadratic and absolute value equations, polynomials, radical expressions and equations, as well as the study of sets and matrices. Precision and the ability to reason abstractly are stressed in this class.
