The Great Commandment says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself." We've been told countless times how much God loves us, but how can we love God with all of our being if we don't know him first? Theology means the science of God, in this class, students will learn more about God in order to better love him and recognize his great love for you.
6th Grade ~ Sacred Scripture This year focuses on Sacred Scripture. God's revelation of himself to us started in the Old Testament and was fulfilled with the coming of Jesus Christ explained in the New Testament. Students will learn about the events that took place and the prophets and chosen people through whom God worked to prepare for the coming of Christ and the establishment of the Church. They will learn what prayer is and how to establish a relationship with God.
7th Grade ~ Living as a Disciple of Christ This year focuses on understanding what it means to be made in the image and likeness of God and what it means to live as a disciple of Christ. They will learn about some of the lives of the saints and they will study the seven Sacraments which are, Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. They will learn about the importance of prayer and the different types of prayer as well as Theology of the Body inspired from the writings of St. John Paul the Great.
8th Grade ~ The Communion of the Faithful This year focuses on what it means to be a member of the Church. Students will study the different vocations with a focus on God's plan for love and marriage. They will learn what the universal call to holiness means, how to continue a life of prayer, how to live a moral life, and the history of the Catholic Church.
Service Hours All middle school students are required to complete a certain number of community service hours. These can be done at home and in the community. All the hours must be done on a volunteer basis. These hours help the students learn and understand the Corporal Works of Mercy while helping them develop social skills and learn the importance of responsibility and service to others.
