Kindergarten to 5th grade, where faith, learning, and community come together to form a nurturing and enriching educational experience.
Students engage in cooperative, hands-on learning to support imagination, exploration, and discovery. A variety of materials and teaching methods, including technology components, are utilized to support different learning styles. All elementary students participate in physical education, art, music, band or choir (5), Spanish, library, and technology courses. Religion class is taught daily and is incorporated within daily lessons to ensure a cross-curricular approach of our faith.
K-3rd grade students are in self-contained classrooms, which allows teachers to truly identify learners’ academic strengths and weaknesses. Each classroom has a teacher and a shared teacher assistant with their grade which creates a lower student-to-teacher ratio. Developing a classroom “family,” in a Christ-centered, collaborative environment is an important goal in grades K-3. As with all age groups at St. Patricks, great attention is given to developing the whole child.
Our fourth and fifth graders are divided between two teachers and two classrooms with a teaching assistant. A variety of technological tools and programs including chromebooks, iPads, apps, and Google Suite are utilized to support different learning styles and to facilitate classroom lessons. St. Patrick Catholic School's curriculum aligns with the Academic Standards of the Diocese of St. Augustine in conjunction with Florida State Standards. We evaluate all our approaches, methods, resources, and curriculum materials with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools and the Florida Catholic Conference. At the heart of a Catholic education, however, is an approach that nurtures the whole person — academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
